The Emergency Medical Service (EMS)
The Emergency Medical Service is dedicated to one mission above all else—saving lives.
As a member of the EMS family, you’ll be at the heart of the action in a state where something is always happening. No two days are alike, and you’ll play a vital role in keeping the community safe and healthy.
Our EMS team is made up of highly trained, professional individuals who are prepared to handle almost any situation that comes their way.

Ranks

Districts
To ensure maximum coverage, EMS operates across multiple districts, each color-coded for easy identification:
- Red: Lakeside
- Blue: Los Diablos
- Green: Nueva San Cristobal
- Orange: State Prison
We also operate an Air Ambulance Program (AAP)—a rapid-response unit capable of reaching locations that ground ambulances cannot access quickly. Pilots in this division undergo rigorous training and must pass multiple certifications before taking flight.
Basic Training
All recruits must pass three essential tests before joining the team:
- Communication – Mastering radio protocols and effective communication with others.
- Vehicle Operations – Safe ambulance driving, proper parking, and creating secure highway zones.
- Medical Skills – A foundational medic assessment testing your existing knowledge and readiness.
- Note: Applicants must already have a baseline understanding before testing. If unsuccessful, you may reapply in the future.

Pro Tip from EMS: Always wear your seat belt—it saves lives.
